Storyboards and camera shots.
Last week we created our storyboards to help us through filming our film trailer. We had to make them look artistic. we had to create a camera shot list of the different types of shot we would like to use throughout the trailer. These pieces of work will help us create the best trailer we can and to really help capture the attention of the audience.
Horror still shots of different woodland area.

Horror film trailers.
Yesterday we watched some different types of Horror film trailers. We watched a mixture of films from the 1980's to the present day. We watched both types of trailers because it helps us understand how films have changed so much over the years. it shows us how people got scared on the 1980's and it shows us that no matter how a trailer is made it will make anyone scared.
Here are the trailers we watched;
Here are the trailers we watched;

Slumdog Millionaire deconstruction task
I haven't managed to finish this task yet as i don't understand some of the last questions which i need help on.
Task 1;
The UK Trailer;
1. How do the creators try to appeal to an audience?
The creators try to appeal to the audience by showing how people live in India and how they are treated when they live in slums. It is showing the culture of another country, which interests people because they like to see how other people live. As they show how other people it tells the true culture of what India is like. I also think another way the creators try to appeal to the audience is by filming in a hot country that has lots of vibrate and bright colours, this attracts a young audience which would be their main audience because of the young cast that they have in the film. I also believe that the music appeals to the audience because it something we haven’t heard before.
2. Who is the target audience for this film?
I believe that this films main audience is people aged from 17 and above. I believe that it is aimed at this age because of the young cast and because of the whole story line. Because it is based on how the boys grow up and how they became successful it attracts the younger audience because it relates to a young audience. I also believe that they are the main audience because of the music and violence used throughout the film, both of these things attract a younger audience because they are the types of films they watch today. I believe that they are their main audience because a younger audience wouldn’t be able to concentrate on it as you have to do that because there is so much happening throughout the film that needs to be watched and I think it is aimed at an older audience because of the language used throughout the film.
The themes in the trailer are;
Love – there is the love theme throughout the trailer because it is about Jamal finding Latika again as they grow up, but it is also about love because of the relationship between the brothers. I think this theme would appeal to the most would be young adults because it is about them grow up which is what most young teenagers are doing.
Brotherhood – there is also this theme throughout because the brothers are sticking together as they go through the trailer. This shows the love between them and also the commitment to get themselves looked after. I main audience this would appeal to again is the young audience because most young audiences have brothers and they have to look after each other.
Technical codes.
Pace and style of editing; the editing used in the trailer really catches the eye of the audience. I like how they have edited the shots to make them shorter and snappier so it gives the audience the feeling of that they would like to watch the whole film. The trailer is paced at a good pace because it allows the audience to see as much as possible. I also think that the trailer is well paced because it has so many clips in but each clip gives you a lot of information. Also the writing on the clips are edited well because they are done so people can still see what is going on.
Use of colour; the colours used in the trailer are very bold and bright. They really attract the customer because they stand out but they also represent India where the film is shot. It tells the audience what type of culture will be in the film.
Camera angles and types of shot; there are quite a lot of close ups used throughout the trailer. And at the end of the trailer there is a long shot to show what the slums look like now. The long shot really shows the audience how much India is changing but they also show what people went through.
Sound effects; the trailer doesn’t really have any sound effects.
Voice over; It does have a narrator talking through it. The narrator does give the trailer a good effect because it helps the audience watching it now what is going on through the trailer and what the film is going to be about.
Music; the music in the film represents where the film is set. It represents the culture of the people who are in the film also. The music really captures the audience because it is something different and it is nice to hear a different type of music in a film.
Selection of clips; the different selection of clips represent what the culture of the film is about. They really appeal to the audience because they are showing what another country is like.
The film appeals to the global audience because it is telling the world what most countries are going through. It appeals to the global audience because it shows people what other countries go through and what other people in different countries go through. It is giving them a culture lesson on different people.
