Questionnaire results.

These are the results of my questionnaire;

This graph is telling how many of the students in media who watch horror films. I got a great range of who watches them which will really help with coming up with the best ideas.

This graph tells me what type of horror film they like. Each person who answered gave more than one answer which is good because it tells me they enjoy a wide range of horrors. the 0% is hammer horror, this tells me that this isn't a good idea to go with because no one likes it.

3. What would you expect from a horror film?

Elliott – To provoke thoughts and predictions, then supply the unexpected.
Hannah – to be kept in suspense.
Chris – blood, gore and parts which make you jump.
Harry – Build up tension.
Paige – to be scary.
Ashleigh – to be scared.
Charlotte – victim and villain.

These results tell me what people expect from a horror. these results are great because it tells me that i need to make a trailer that will scare them.

4. What is you favourite Horror character, such as serial killer or ghost and why?

Hannah – Jerry the vampire from Fright Night because he is sneaky and confident and hard to kill because he is immortal.
Chris – Jason he is a huge undead serial killer.
Harry – ghosts more of a mind mess.
Paige -  I don’t have one.
Ashleigh – I don’t have a favourite.
Charlotte – Ghost.
Elliott – didn’t answer the question.

These results tell me that every one likes the serial killer character which tells me that they like films with a lot of gore.

These results tell me that the class like to watch horror films apart from 1 person. This tells me that this project will work really well.

6. What is your favourite Horror film and why?

Elliott – paranormal activity 2; because throughout the film you are in suspense as to what happens, then when you think you have it figured out the completely unexpected happens.
Hannah – don’t have one.
Chris – Halloween; it is a story about a young boy who turns out to be a serial killer, who is incredibly tall, strong and goes out to kill any body after escaping prison.
Harry – Silent hill; I found it funny and jumpy.
Paige – Stay alive; because it has a complete different concept in the way its about a game, and I like that idea.
Ashleigh – nightmare on elm street because you never know what’s going to happen next.
Charlotte – only seen the Last house on the left.

These results tell me what type of horror i should stick to. All of the results are different which is good because me a wide range of options to choose from.

7. What horror film has really scared you and why?

Hannah – paranormal activity 3 because very jumpy and unsuspected ending.
Chris – paranormal activity scared me enough that I couldn’t sleep well that night I watched it.
Harry – nothing really.
Paige – REC because I thought the demon/monster things were terrifying and almost every scene had me hiding behind my pillow.
Ashleigh – Insidious because its freaky as hell.
Charlotte – only seen the last house on the left.
Elliott – didn’t answer.

These results are telling me what horror film has really scared them and why. These results give me a load of ideas that will really help.

These results tell me that most of the class like their films done in cinema mode. This tells me that i shouldn't do a trailer in handheld mode because they wouldn't like it.

These results tell me that the class don't like horror films with a lot of gore. This gives me the chose of what to do and what i think would be the best way to go.

10. Do you think horror films are suitable or do you think they shouldn’t exist? Please explain why for either answer.

Elliott – they are suitable, because they all have an appropriate rating, and anybody who feels they aren’t appropriate doesn’t have to watch them.
Hannah – I think they are fine as long as certificated.
Chris – I think they are suitable, I find them great to watch, especially if they are acted out well, you can get into them, which makes the experience more realistic and scary.
Harry – I think they should because they are funny.
Paige – I think they are suitable when they are certificated correctly.
Ashleigh – I think they are suitable for certain ages.
Charlotte – I don’t like horrors, I’d rather watch a rom-com.

These results tell me that the class think that horror films are aged appropriately. This means that we should stick with the idea of that age range.
